Our buddy Kid Zoom’s at it again…Australian born, New York based artist, KID ZOOM (Ian Strange) recently returned to Australia to build an ambitious, full-scale replica of his childhood home inside Cockatoo Island’s prestigious Turbine Hall in Sydney.

A reflection on Strange’s upbringing as an isolated teen in the Australian suburbs, KID ZOOM: HOME is complemented by a film that sees Strange recklessly blowing up and then smashing, three iconic Australian cars – a further perpetuation of the plight of the apathetic, isolated youth in suburbia.

Of the new work, Strange said, “I am very much a product of the Australian suburbs and have always wanted to create an installation work reflecting on this.”
